Quality: What it Means and How it Fits Into Your Career Plans

Martin_Hettwer.On January 15, 2015, ASQ London’s first meeting of this year was held on the Alumni Lounge in Fanshawe College campus. This is a joint meeting with Fanshawe College School of Business. The intent of the meeting is to give the students an introduction to quality, ASQ , professional certifications, membership benefits, and how to get involved in the London section. This event also received great supports from ASQ Headquarter and a presentation was provided by Stephanie Thompson, the Vice Chair Students from ASQ Quality Management Division.

The keynote speaking was present by our experienced quality professional and current ASQ London Section Chair Martin Hettwer. Martin started the presentation by describing his own personal experience on how he entered the quality world and progressed in his quality career path. During the presentation he also used several life examples to explain to the audience what the quality means and what customer expectations are.

neil_bishopAfter Martin’s presentation, Neil Bishop, Fanshawe College Business – Supply Chain Programs Coordinator concluded the meeting. Neil introduced Fanshawe Business programs and course settings. He talked about the value to have students involve in professional associations such as ASQ. He also pointed that it would also be a good marketing tool for Fanshawe Business programs to partner with ASQ. In the end Neil has expressed a great interest to continue to work with ASQ London section to explore the opportunity of establishing an ASQ student chapter at Fanshawe College.
