Tour: Greenway Pollution Control Plant

Location: Greenway Pollution Control Plant – 109 Greenside Ave., London.
2nd floor training room (reddish brick building).

The Environmental Services Department Pollution Control Operations Division manages six sewage treatment plants located along the Thames River and Dingman Creek and 35 pumping stations. The sewage treatment plants use:
· bacteria to consume organic material and convert ammonia to nitrates;

· chemicals to remove phosphorous; and,

· ultra violet light to disinfect by destroying pathogens

Come out and learn about how a sludge sewage treatment plant operates through the use of:
Screens, Grit Removal, Primary Settling Tanks, Aeration Tanks, Final Settling Tanks, Disinfection and Sludge Disposal.
Learn about the Zebra Mussel Pilot Project!
